Knitters (& Crocheters!) Wanted

Bittersweet needs YOU. Yes, you! Ok, maybe not you specifically, but Bittersweet definitely needs someone who is willing to offer the use of their hands towards the knitting and crocheting of sample projects. I don’t know why it hasn’t occurred to me before, this asking for help, but duh! I’m a fairly slow knitter due to muscle and joint pain, and there’s really no way I can have a personal knitting life and knit samples for my booth. And so, I ask my readers (and I’ll put it out on Facebook and G+) to see if anyone is interested. I wish this could be a cash-paying gig, but here’s what’s in it for you:

  • Compensation will come in the form of a gift certificate to my online shop for an amount of yarn equal to the project they’re making, and will cover free shipping as well. So, knit a pair of socks (1 skein) and get another skein of equal or lesser value for your own projects. It doesn’t have to be the same weight yarn, just of equal or lesser value. It doesn’t even have to be yarn, if the volunteer waits long enough I’ll also have accessories in the shop later this fall as well.
  • Public recognition if you’re test knitting the yarn for one of my own patterns in the final release, and/or recognition on my blog(s) on a special “Awesomeness” page. You can skip this part if you’re bashful.

My sample needs are both short and long term. I need at least one person who’s willing to crochet a shawlette, pair of socks, hat, or other small accessory, and two who are knitters. Same project parameters. I am willing to collaborate on pattern choices, or I can assign one to you. I’m mindful of people being busy, and am looking at projects that are in the easy to moderate skill level categories.

I would dearly love to have two volunteers who are willing and able to make something and have it mailed to me by September 8th. I know; it’s not a lot of time. I’m not even sure anyone would be willing to work that fast. My next deadlines would be September 22nd, and October 17th. Those are my short term goals. Looking out long term is much easier. “Whenever, so long as it’s before April” being more along the lines of what I’m looking at.

If you’re interested, please leave a comment with what craft, type of project, and what deadline you think you can make. Don’t be afraid to take the long term option, that’s ok as well. If you’d like to take a more private route, you can email me at rowsred at gmail dot com. I appreciate all the help I can get, and I only wish I could do more to compensate whoever takes up the challenge. Thank you, really and truly.

I’d like to give it a shot!

I knit and crochet, but knitted socks seem to be my personal gremlin of slowness so I’m willing to do anything but that under a deadline, any deadline. I’m needlesnswiffers on Ravelry if you’d like to see my work.

  • I’d be willing to sample knit for you! I know what a big help it can be when you have pattern testers and sample knitters and I’d love to help support you in your yarny goals :D
