About Me
Strange Little Girl, Where Are You Going?
Pagan, avid reader and enthusiastic cook. Loves lightning, gourmet dark chocolate and supernatural erotica/romance. Proud wife of a flaming geek.
I knit, spin, crochet, dye and can dabble on a rigid heddle loom. I love meeting people and have a mild to wild case of verbal EasyPass.
When I fall in love with someone, or something, I fall HARD. It’s difficult to describe how much fiber means to me. Spinning, knitting, and dyeing are a huge part of my life. There is no telling where one begins and the other ends. Fiber is a burning passion, consuming my time, my money, and all the available storage space in our apartment. It’s a lifestyle, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My mother says that the fevers she had during her last week of pregnancy baked my brain. I have no reason to doubt her.
25 Random Things About Me
1. I am a true Gemini in that I am a walking contradiction, both bold and quiet, confident and full of doubt.
2. My oldest memory is of cutting my hand badly on a picture frame when I was 3. I showed it to my mom and said “look mommy, look” very calmly.
3. I can be transported by a really good movie, sometimes it takes me half an hour or more to start feeling in my own skin again.
4. I used to write all the time but hardly ever do anymore now that I’ve got my depression under control the last 6 years.
5. I think of my depression as a living thing, another person inside of me, that eats away the good parts of my life when it isn’t under control.
6. The one thing I regret about my job is that I can’t own a snake, preferably a ball python or pretty corn snake.
7. I chose to marry my best friend because together we are so much more than we are apart.
8. I’m not afraid of death or what may or may not come next (I have no idea), and I’m not just saying that. I’m afraid of pain, but not ceasing to live.
9. People who don’t raise their kids to know hard work and responsibility really piss me off.
10. I wouldn’t repeat high school if you paid me a million dollars.
11. I dream that I’m being chased through a large, dark house by either aliens or a black ops team on a regular basis, since I was a small child. Usually it’s the military and not the aliens. And usually I’m desperately searching for a weapon to kill them but there aren’t any to be found.
12. I am grateful every day that my Fibromyalgia is under control and I don’t hurt all the time, for now. Just when you touch me in certain spots or I overdo things.
13. I love modern Arabic, world and belly dance style music, think Stellamara, Junoon, Niyaz, Azam Ali, and Natacha Atlas.
14. I still regret that my parents didn’t feel safe teaching me to speak Spanish because of where I grew up, and I resent the fact that they had reason to feel that way.
15. I am proud of who I am and how far I’ve come, despite a modest lifestyle and job title. I love my work and the fact that it allows me to have a life that makes me happy.
16. Knitting has changed my life. Despite crocheting since I was 7, it wasn’t until I started knitting in 2004 that an entire world opened up to me. I’m eternally grateful for it.
17. I would like to point out that being a Pagan wasn’t a phase, 13 years and counting.
18. I had a college reading level by 4th grade and used to read up to 200 books a year. It’s about 75+ now, but that’s because I can’t read paperbacks and knit at the same time.
19. I would die on the inside if I had to live in a city, and I’m not kidding. I can’t be somewhere for long periods of time where there are more people than trees.
20. I am one of those “force of nature” personalities, and I’m not ashamed of it. I try to keep it to a dull roar out of respect for others and a desire to be the best person I can be.
21. I invented the term “Verbal EasyPass”, initially referencing my husband.
22. I also invented the term “Toothpicks of Doom” in reference to double pointed knitting needles for knitting socks.
23. My favorite painters are John William Waterhouse and Susan Seddon-Boulet. You should go look them up!
24. My PC is named Polychrome, my iPod is Aria, my spinning wheel is Circe, and my car is Miss Scarlet.
25. If I had a month to live I would be pissed to miss the chance to grow old with my husband, travel to places I’ve never seen, etc. but I would be right with the life I’ve lived.
