An Embarrassment of Riches

Category: Loot,WOOLMistress Rows @ 6:56 am

Being on a much more restricted budget now that we’re homeowners, I left for WOOL with very little in my pocket and a dire need to sell some yarn. Shopping was going to be out of the question unless I could make back my room deposit and wouldn’t you know… I did! And then some! Thank you to everyone who picked up a skein and gave it a new home, I appreciate your patronage! As always, it inspires me to do and be more, never a bad thing.

From Vickie, with love. My signature soap!

Rambutan in BFL from ITW, a gift from Cris!

Caramel Apple organic merino, the softest I've ever felt. A gift from Tamara of Spincerely Yours. Click on the photo to visit her shop.

A project bag and mini luxury llama batt from first timer Tierney!

I didn’t have to worry about coming home empty handed though, for some of you completely showered with me gifts. It was literally an embarrassment of riches as, throughout the weekend, some of my guests made me giddy with their generosity. I don’t do what I do so people will give me beautiful fiber and delicious chocolate, but damned if it isn’t a sweet side effect. Literally.

From Vickie and other awesome WOOL guests. Whoah.

I may have made a joke on the Ravelry board about how I am happy to accept tribute in the form of chocolate, and since everyone knows that I love the readily available Lindt brand… um… wow. And then Vickie had to get cute and buy out the Touch of Salt at the local RiteAid because I may have demonstrated while sharing my own personal bar how the sea salt makes your mouth go “oooooh!” *inset full body shudder* Even with sharing I came home with EIGHT BARS of chocolate. Steve is in heaven and so am I.

Two guests tried REALLY hard to find me the Lindt Cherry Chili bar, to no avail, so they brought me this instead.

The best part about our little mini-show is how creative and talented my guest vendors are. You should have seen how people descended like locusts on Cris of Into the Whirled and Jess of Stitched by Jessalu! You’d have thought they were selling chocolate instead of glorious fiber and accessories. Cris, especially, just floored me with her bins o’ fiber. It’s almost impossible to choose, except when she includes the rare garnet hue in the mix. That one was coming home with me come hell or high water.

Calico Blues, a purchase from ITW, in Polworth no less! I can't wait to try.

Wicked Witch BFL, a trade with Leann at Forbidden Woolery, click to visit!

View from Sarah's Window merino/tencel purchased from Spincerely Yours.

Coming back ‘round to Vickie again, holy jeebus! That woman is one talented lady. She’s getting her bath and beauty products business off the ground and shared some of her test products with us while we were at WOOL. The first floor bathroom had a bunch of samples for us to use and I absolutely fell in love with her emulsified sugar scrub. Her website can’t come too soon! For now I went home with her basil pear body lotion sample. It’s strange, compelling, complex, and a scent you won’t soon forget.

Basil Pear body lotion, a gift from Vickie of Daisy Lamont Soaps.

If I could have afforded it, I would have come home with even more pretties, but as is, what more can a girl ask for? As it stands, the one fiber trade and two purchases rounded out a bountiful bag of fiber lusciousness. I am a very happy spinner! Even better though? The thank yous that were just thank you, and the smiles of very happy women.

Aftermath: WOOL 2010

Category: Friends & Fun,WOOLMistress Rows @ 5:55 pm

While it was stupid hot and overcast initially, by Thursday afternoon it was gorgeous and I got to spin!

Each year when I arrive at Wiawaka for the start of the annual WOOL Retreat, I have the strangest feeling like it’s already ended. In a lot of ways the first day really is an ending for me. It’s the end of a year of on and off anxiety, worrying, planning, promotion, and administrative duties. Even though the event is tiny compared to SOAR or SPA, there a small truth to the idea that all events require a certain level of work, everything past that is just scale. Of course, when you’re talking about something like Sock Summit, all bets are off. But those of you who have organized events in the past may know what I’m talking about. Whether you’re running it for 25 people or 50, a certain portion of the to do list is always the same.

It was a bit windy while we were there. Still, how beautiful!

This year I was really struck by how much more relaxed I was. Maybe the hat mojo paid off, but I had not a single incident that was in any way unreasonable. A few things needed rearranging, but everything and everyone was reasonable and very considerate in their needs. For that I can’t thank my guests enough! By far this was the year I had the most fun, and I actually got to relax more fully than in years past. Believe it or not, I was pain free the entire time I was there, aside from early morning stiffness. Steve will tell you it’s because I was riding (literally) high on the endorphins of a good crowd vibe, and I won’t say that wasn’t it.

These are my people!

Going up a day early with a few friends was wonderful, and a great way to start things off. Still, I was more than ready for the large influx of fiber peeps come Thursday, and they didn’t disappoint. The laughing! The hugging! The GIFTS! Holy cow people, with the chocolate tributes! And the soap, and the fiber. ZOMG. I was overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness and beauty/tastiness of your gifts. They’ll get their own post along with the loot.

I was pleased with my offerings.

Speaking of LOOT… holy JEEBUS! The vending! It was an orgy of vending all weekend long, and most of us did very well for ourselves considering a good third were vendors and not strictly customers. I did a couple of trades but had to restrict my actual shopping to just two braids of deliciously soft top. But then again, given how generous guests were with “hostess” gifts, I didn’t really *need* anything else.  Oh, and we raised $300 for Wiawaka in the raffle, thank you to everyone for being so generous!

Bidding in the silent auction.

People, especially thew first timers, seemed to have a lot of fun, and for that I am very grateful. It’s wonderful to see the way these ladies faces light up when they realize that they are now Away… With Nothing To Do But Play With Yarn. It’s like magic. I had guest after guest tell me how good it felt to be in such beautiful surroundings, with good people, and good fiber. And given that the food this year was also good (new cook! more meat!), we were – in general – contented fiberistas.

Sushi Yoshi never disappoints, with a car like that, how could they?

And speaking of the people… can I just say how much fun it was to meet you new crazy ladies? Heidi, Tierney, Dorre, Elizabeth, Tamarre, Tamara, Cheeky, Anne and all the rest of you, you ladies rocked. Funny, considerate, kind people. You were a pleasure to be around, and a blast to hang out with. To returning friends from years past I say unto you – WOOT! You make it all worth while.

See? We do things other than spin at WOOL!

Lastly, I couldn’t be more pleased to note that I think we have the space situation figured out. Since it’s not about growing as large as possible, and instead about having fun at Wiawaka, I have decided to cap attendance at 25 (our count this year). With permission graciously granted by Wiawaka, they’ll move two of the godawful couches out of the living room in Lake House and that will allow for 5 people to set up with wheels. It’ll be far more comfortable. Tight, but not insane. And we don’t have to leave. Woohoo!

Happy face for a happy Tina.

What that will mean is that spaces may go even faster next year, so keep tuned in to the blog come late winter, so you’ll know when signups start! I don’t have a date yet, but you can count on August. See you next Summer!

WOOL 2010: Commemorative Colorway Poll

Category: WOOLMistress Rows @ 11:08 pm

Just a quick update to say that if you’re going to WOOL and would like to vote on a commemorative colorway that I’m dyeing just for attendees, you can do so here (Rav link). If you’re attending, but not on Rav, and would like me to know what your vote would be you can just leave your vote here as a comment. Actually anyone can leave their vote here if they want to, just for fun.  Basically, I’ve posted these eight photos, chosen from ones that I’ve taken at WOOL over the last three years. You’re allowed to vote for up to three. The one with the most “love” votes will be dyed up as an exclusive colorway in my Guilty Pleasures sock yarn. Only 20 skeins of this yarn will ever be made, and I’m curious to see which photo wins!

Also, holy cow you crazy people! This afternoon was a flurry of emails and phone calls. As it stands right now Carolyn can no longer attend, so her name is off the waiting list and Cris has a room! We have another guest, Marjorie as of tonight, and perhaps one more if logistics work out. Oh yeah, I’m excited. 27, possibly 28 guests!

WOOL 2010: 4 Weeks Out

Category: WOOLMistress Rows @ 7:18 am

I’ve got so much to share about the Tour de Fleece (and so many emails to catch up with), but these things will have to wait. More important than those things, more important than just about anything else on my list right now is the fact that WOOL 2010 is less than 30 days away! Seriously! I know. The idea that it’s almost August is just so bizarre. It feels like it was just May a couple of weeks ago. Can you believe it? Just four weeks until WOOL? Woohoo! We’ve had a little chatter over on the WOOL group on the Ravelry forums, and it’s so nice to know that my guests are just as excited as I am, even the ones who haven’t been before!

Right around this time is when I always double check my list against Gretchen’s list, making sure I know who’s coming, and where things stand. Right now, to the best of our combined knowledge, we have 24 guests, with two guests waiting for a single room to open up since they’d prefer to stay in Lake House vs. a shared room in Mayflower or Rose cottages. The list of guests is as follows:

Christine Z., Robin, Dorre, Phyllis, Lisa R., Leann, Tamar, Heidi, Kim, Anne, Jessica L., Sharon, Tierney, Risa, Avigayil, Diane, Vicky, Erin, Sarah D., Jessica T., Harriet, Elizabeth, Sarah P., and myself.

On the waiting list I have Carolyn and Cris.

  • If you believe your are registered and do NOT see your name in the above list, please contact me right away so I can see what’s what.
  • If you are registered but are no longer able to join us, PLEASE let me know so that one of the gals on the waiting list can join us. Your deposit is still completely refundable by Wiawaka at this time.
  • If you haven’t signed up and would like to, there are still rooms available in Fuller and Mayflower. Mayflower rooms are shared rooms, so please keep that in mind. If you bring a friend you don’t have to worry about sharing with a stranger!

Assuming every person on the list is still showing up: I am willing to give up my room in Lake House so that one person on the waiting list can get into a single. I see that Robin’s room has a slot free for another guest, and I’d be happy to share with her and free up my room for either Carolyn or Cris. I have a call in to Gretchen to see if someone can stay in Fuller (the main house where we eat meals). Personally I think it’d be cool to stay in Fuller, if someone else wants to room with Robin instead. Her room is a double occupancy and someone will get booked there by Wiawaka eventually anyway, better if it’s one of us!

As a reminder, in two weeks you’ll get an email from me giving you even more details about the event, and what you can expect. This is the nitty gritty stuff, like what you should pack, reminders to tell them of your special dietary needs (if any), stuff like that.  Don’t forget to bring your fun money, we’re got a great lineup of indie crafters and shop owners attending who will be bringing their best for you to shop from at our own private little wool show, but not before the silent auction to benefit Wiawaka and help offset our stay.

I just checked against Gretchen’s guest chart, and I just realized that there are only 33 beds in active use for guests. 24 of them are taken by us, possibly 26 if all goes well. It’s going to be awesome.

WOOL Registration: The Morning After… (two days later)

Category: WOOLMistress Rows @ 12:53 pm

Ladies, you astound me. Despite (once again) battling a WordPress glitch and some of you having trouble with the form, you pounced like ravening beasts upon the goodness that is WOOL and have made short work of opening day registration. Staying up ‘til midnight is worth every minute of exhaustion as I ride the wave of adrenaline fueled rush that comes with watching Facebook and my inbox catch FIRE. By 12:15 a.m. I had fixed the form, not that you were slowed in the least as you jumped ahead to registering with Wiawaka and then coming back to register with me. Within the first 45 minutes I had 13 reservations, and by 10 a.m. the next morning Lake House sold out. In TEN hours!

I think of registration is “WOOL bombing”, referring to the explosion of emails, Facebook posts, and chat messages that I get in those first 30 minutes. You ladies make me grin like an idiot, laugh out loud, and from time to time my jaw drops. I spent the witching hour giddy with excitement and loving every minute of it. Well, not the minutes that technology kicks my ass, but the rest of the time – absolutely!

Happy Lamb means happy!

Since I know you’re all DYING to know, and I’ve been asked several times over the weekend, here’s the list of guests signed up so far that I know of. I say that I know of because my form wasn’t working at first and I’m pretty sure Gretchen, Wiawaka’s registrar, has at least one person that I don’t know about. So, yes, the list… in order of first to register with me:

Sairy, Elizabeth, Harriet, Jess, Sarah, Erin, Vickie, Diane, Avigayil, Risa, Tierney, Sharon, Jessica, Ann, Kim, Heidi, Tamar, Leann, and of course, myself.

Huzzah! WOOL has begun, and we’ve only got ‘til August to wait. August never seemed so far away until I started doing this and if you’ve been to WOOL before you know exactly what I mean. In a good way though! If you’re interested in signing up, please do! Sign up info is located here. Lake House may even have a room left since there are four guests I know of who chose to stay in one of the other cottages and share rooms with friends. But either way, there are still rooms free in the resort, you just might have to room with a friend. In anticipation of that, why not bring a friend with you? My Aunt-in-Law is considering coming with her adult daughter, and I think that sounds awesome. If you’d like to help promote WOOL now that you’ve all had first crack at reservations, please consider printing and posting the flyer in your local yarn store or handing out at your next knit night.

Thank you, all of you, for making the first steps to WOOL 2010 so much fun, I can’t wait to see you there!

Friday Night Madness!

Category: WOOL,eventsMistress Rows @ 6:53 am

It’s almost here… registrations for WOOL 2010 open this Friday night at midnight! (Which is technically Saturday morning, but whatever.) Don’t forget to stay up late Friday night or get up really early Saturday morning if you’d like to reserve your spot in the Lake House. There are 16 spots in the Lake House and last year they sold out in under 24 hours. After that time all overflow reservations go into the charming cottages, but you will most likely have to share a room. Which is perfect if you’re coming with a friend, if you think of it! Gretchen, the Wiawaka Registrar, will be waking Saturday morning with baited breath to see what madness has ensued overnight. She loves how we register and thinks it’s great fun.

"Hi Minnehaha!"

Friday I will post all the info you’ll need to remember at registration, and how to register both with me AND Wiawaka. It’s a tiny bit inconvenient, but it helps me keep track of reservations so I have something to check against Wiawaka’s list.

Last year? Best. WOOL. Ever!

This will almost surely be our last year at Wiawaka, sadly we’ve long since outgrown the public gathering spaces at night and the poor Lake House is bursting at the seams every evening. It breaks my heart that we’ll have to find a new home next year, which just so happens to be the 5th anniversary of the event, but we really need more room. So if you’ve never experienced the beauty of Wiawaka, and the particular charm it has in spades, this is your year to attend! Only 50% of your deposit is needed up front to reserve your spot, and they do take check and credit cards.

As always, I remind you that I don’t make any personal gain from this event. You pay Wiawaka directly, and I do the administrative stuff for sheer love of the event.  And also, as a blog reader, you get first crack at reservations. I don’t start promoting the event to the general public until Monday! If you’re not sure what WOOL is, or if it’s for you, you can read more about it here and here.

Save the Date

Category: WOOL,eventsMistress Rows @ 10:53 am

As the days start to warm up so does my events calendar! I know there are a few of you just itching for the announcement, so here it is:

WOOL 2010
August 5th-8th
Wiawaka Holiday House, Lake George, NY

Registration will open on Saturday, April 17th, 12:00 a.m. (aka midnight Friday night). Night owls can sit by their computers and pounce on sign ups before going to bed, early birds can snatch up the last Lake House spots on Saturday morning while the rest of us sleep in. The anticipation, it burns!

WOOL is all about the good times, you sould totally come.

In two days we’ll be gathering at the Athens Cultural Center for the 2nd Annual Stitch & Spin, and lo it shall be good. I’m expecting more (confirmed) new faces than the last few Stitch & Spins, and that’s very exciting. Better promotion online and off is a good thing! While new faces are wonderful, you know how much it means to me to see old friends from near and far at these events. If the company’s not enough to light your fire, how about the really sweet raffle prizes? Donations are forthcoming from:

There are 75 folding chairs there, so unless you have a special chair (like the gang and I do) don’t worry about bringing your own. Parking is on street-side, so if you can’t park on the same block, I recommend turning ‘round and parking on lower 2nd street, closer to the water. At the very least the river front park at the bottom has plenty of parking. It’s only a block from the Center, and the weather looks to be sunny and warm for Saturday.

The event runs from 12-5, and wouldn’t you know there’s a sweet little restaurant right across the street? Cameos is an American/Italian bistro, I’ve heard great things about their pizza and pasta. Athens is a no-stoplight little town so I’m very happy one of our three restaurants is so convenient for the event. Anyone who likes is welcome to join me for dinner, don’t be shy!

Can’t Forget the Loot

Category: Loot,WOOLMistress Rows @ 4:27 pm

One of the things I haven’t posted from WOOL yet is the loot… oh, the loot! Some of it was purchased and some of it was generously given, all of it is wonderful.

Vickie, my SOAR buddy, made me a beautiful gift bag full of the best stuff. Inside I found three bars of gourmet dark chocolate of a Belgian brand I’d not tried before, the best of which is called SEXY. It’s heavily caffeinated and has bits of candied ginger, woohoo! She also included a bar of her own handmade Daisy Lamont cucumber soap (it lathers and smells divine). She saved me empty Altoids tins because I rhapsodized about them at SOAR for notions and business cards, and included a package of delicious smelling tea for my husband. Lastly, she read my comment about the fabulous fleece we used in Maggie Casey’s class and can you believe she pulled out her own last remaining class batt and gave it to me? Thank you, Vickie, you totally overwhelmed me with your generosity. And of course, now I get to think of you every time I take a shower. It doesn’t help that she told me the name of her soap brand was her “stripper name”. I still laugh whenever I think about it!

Look at the crimp in that lock! Oooh, hey, chocolate...

Look at the crimp in that lock! Oooh, hey, chocolate...

Saturday’s vending hour was so much fun, it really was like having a tiny festival, just for us. Every single vending guest brought wonderful things for us to pounce on, and not just yarn and spinning fiber either. We also had box bags, stitch markers, and hand dyed art scarves, in addition to stash for swap or sale. All of my favorite local dyers were there, and I couldn’t stop myself from picking up a few braids. I have to support my vendors, right? And since I do believe every single one of them had some sort of WOOL discount in effect, the hooks were baited well.

From Leann at Enchanted Hues I picked up her newest, “Eastwick”, named for the upcoming show based on the Witches of Eastwick movie. I may actually run this one through the drum carder to come up with a more heathery blend, which I’m sure she’ll appreciate given her focus that weekend.

Moody blues, just how I like it.

Moody blues, just how I like it.

From Carolyn (See Kay Knit) I picked up some fresh-from-the-dyepot BFL in a colorway very close to my recent Poisoned Apple, appropriately called Rubies. I love me some BFL, there really wasn’t anything to be done for it.

Hard to photograph just so, but this is close.

Hard to photograph just so, but this is close.

From Cris at Into the Whirled I bought one delicious braid of a wool/silk in a dappled sage and brown. She has graciously allowed me to dub it “Kelpie” for the wicked water horse of Celtic myth. It certainly sucked me under. Later I came back for some Falkland, a fiber that is new to me. It’s plummy, and moody, and very purty. I’ve already told Cris I’m going to need another 4oz of the Kelpie, I see a shawl or a hat/scarf combo in the future.

Mmm... purty.

Mmm... purty.

My pictures in general do not do any of the above acquisitions justice, my new camera doesn’t behave quite like my old one and I’m still getting used to it. Suffice to say that I look forward to some really enjoyable spinning once I get done spinning up my current project.

I’ll close by saying that I am so very proud of all the guests who took a chance and vended at WOOL. You all brought beautiful things, and many of you went to extra trouble to do it. I know I’m not alone in appreciate the fruits of your labors! At least I can say I sold almost as much stash as what I bought, so there’s a shred of dignity to be salvaged. :P

WOOL 2009: The One With the Fun Fur Coconut Bra

Category: Friends & Fun,WOOLMistress Rows @ 4:54 pm

Finally! Beautiful days at Wiawaka.

Finally! Beautiful days at Wiawaka.

Whenever I sit down to do a WOOL wrap-up post I find my fingers don’t know quite where to start. This year I think, instead of a day by day, I’ll write about highlights instead.

Amy, beautiful, bawdy broad.

Amy, beautiful, bawdy broad.

Far Away Friends:
Surely one of the best parts of this year’s event was spending time with my far away friends. Amy visited from Virginia and we spent most of the week together, sharing and laughing. She experienced the beauty of Wiawaka for the first time, and even learned how to spin. We both hope that next year her schedule will allow her to attend. My SOAR friend Vickie also came, to my absolute delight, and not just because she gave me the most thoughtful gift bag as a “hostess” gift. I hope that Vickie and I can hook up again pre-WOOL ’10, she’s the kind of person you want to have in your life much more often than that, but I’ll settle for what time and distance allows!

First Timers:
I was blown away by how many first timers we had this year! Previous guests brought friends, and others decided to take the plunge all on their own. Watching the dynamics play out was interesting. Natural clans sorted themselves out as the hours passed. We had the Jersey gals, the just-getting-starteds, holistic/alternative ladies, and those that defied classification. It was fun to watch as people got to know each other, and learn from their vastly different perspectives.

Flat Out Funny:
I think the pictures speak for themselves, I laughed so hard I almost cried. Also funny? Apparently we are tied with another group of knitters for most recyclables of the 21 and up kind… and yet everyone was well behaved and safe as houses.

Blue Whales bring out your best side.

Blue Whales bring out your best side.

There was this thing on the WOOL board about coconut bras and it just went so wonderfully wrong from there.

There was this thing on the WOOL board about coconut bras and it just went so wonderfully wrong from there.

Festival Like Atmosphere:
WOOL attendees really pulled out the stops with both the silent auction (to benefit Wiawaka) and the vending hour. A big thank you to Sairy, Sharon, and everyone else who helped me get the auction ready, and thank you to EVERYONE who donated items and bid so generously! In particular, there was a certain braid of Spincerely Yours in Sandpiper, and Vickie’s fantastic woven “Awesome Gift Basket of Love” that I thought we were going to come to blows over. All told we raised $300 even. Part of the proceeds went to help the Female Veterans program happening later this summer at Wiawaka, and the rest went to fund scholarships and repairs.

Fantastic vendors, happy shoppers.

Fantastic vendors, happy shoppers.

Vending was out of this world, we had triple the amount of vendors this year as we had in years past. The vendors went all out, many dyeing fiber and yarn just for WOOL, and almost all of them offering fantastic discounts to my guests. I may have just come home with a few items, but it helped that I sold a few items from my stash too. It was just like being at a tiny fiber festival, just without the baby strollers and elbowing people out of the way. I consider that a plus. Maybe next year I should rent a sheep and an alpaca and then we can really feel at home. ;)

Found: Moments of Serenity
Hosting WOOL is always an adventure in management skills. Thank you to everyone who put their best foot forward, rolled with the spirit of adventure, and a focus on friendliness. A very special thank you to Diane who went the extra mile at every turn to make sure I had what I needed, when I needed it, and who did more than her fair share of clean up.

Quiet time as the day ends.

Hard Pink Lemonade and Frabjous Fibers in Rain Forest. Life is good.

I’d like to also thank the weather, which was absolutely lovely until just before we all started to leave. While truly chilly at night and in the morning, it was gorgeous and sunny during the day. I got to spend several hours on the dock, spinning in the sun and finding my moments of Zen.

I'm all warm and fuzzy inside just seeing that. :)

I'm all warm and fuzzy inside just seeing that. :)

We are dancing monkeys for the Minnehaha's amusement!

We are dancing monkeys for the Minnehaha's amusement!

So, there you go… WOOL 2009 is officially over and done with, nothing but memories, photos, sunburns and stash enhancement to remind you of the fun we all had. August 2010 may seem forever and a day away, but time will fly by, as it always does. Thank you to all my guests, no matter how long your stay, for making this year so wonderful. I wouldn’t do it if you weren’t having fun! I loved meeting you all, new friends and old. See you next year!

Today Is My Thursday

Category: WOOLMistress Rows @ 12:28 pm

There’s something very deeply satisfying in being able to write that. It’ll be even more deeply satisfying when I punch out tomorrow afternoon and rush home to meet Amy. I can’t wait to see her, she’s one of my white twins in spirit, if not in particulars. She’s funny, blunt, honest, talented, passionate, fiercely loyal and doesn’t take any shit from anyone. She’s a say anything kinda gal. I love that she has no patience for f*ckery. So I guess those are things I see or want in myself too, and I’m A-OK with that. Amy is driving all the way up from Winchester, Virginia (roughly 6+ hours) to see me, and to attend WOOL for the first time. Let me tell you, that makes me doubly honored. See you soon, hot stuff!

Tuesday night we’ll have sushi over at Wasabi, a regular stop before knitting when Amy was a part of our group (before moving to VA), and after that she’ll get to meet all the new gals at knitting. Several of our members from when she was still living in Catskill have moved away, but Becky and Michelle are still here, so it’ll be fun to reunite for a night. Wednesday I’ll be accompanying Amy while we “go see dead people” (my phrase), apparently there’s this massive cemetery in Jersey where her father’s side of the family is buried. You know that saying about “real friends” and “bodies”? Well, apparently, real friends help you go on road trips to see dead people too. :P

At some point before Wednesday I hope to be done packing for WOOL, which I really can’t believe is only TWO & A HALF DAYS away. Holy crispy crap!

Speaking of WOOL, if you’re a member of Ravelry, please check out the WOOL 2009 board. There are reminders, a get to know you survey, vending advertisements for special WOOL discounts, and more. I’ll be posting some of the more pertinent information tomorrow for those who are not Ravelry members. If you are planning to vend at WOOL and are not a Ravelry member, please leave a comment with your shop name, link, type of product(s) and any discount you may decide to offer (though not required).

To wrap up some loose ends, the Tour de Fleece, Aeolian FO, and now Garden of Alla FO posts will have to wait till after WOOL. There’s no way they’re getting done before Wednesday night.
